Keto: An unscientific look at the Keto diet through the lens of Reddit

The purpose of this blog post is simply to encourage people to consider thinking about their food choices because the food we eat has a profound impact on our physical and mental health. While researching I kept finding inspiration and motivation within the headlines of a particular online Keto community that describes their community with the following:

The Ketogenic Diet is a low carb, high fat method of eating. And /r/keto is place to share thoughts, ideas, benefits, and experiences around eating within a Ketogenic Diet. Helping people with diabetes, epilepsy, autoimmune disorders, acid reflux, inflammation, hormonal imbalances, and a number of other issues, every day.

Sometimes it isn't the results of a scientific study, the statistical significance of those results, or having the gold standard of methodology that moves people to change their habits. However, relating on a more personal and human level can have an unexplainable impact on the lives of others. These headlines are representative of the impact that a Keto diet is having on the lives of everyday people.

In the interest of learning something you didn't know, here is a Johns Hopkins article about Keto and Epilepsy, "One of the oldest treatments for epilepsy is the classic ketogenic diet, which involves consuming high-fat foods and very few carbohydrates. Johns Hopkins is a longstanding pioneer in this mode of therapy."

The important thing is to consider your food choices while forming a clearer picture of what you are putting into your body. "Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food." - At the end of the day, we can't outrun our fork.
